Morris mechanical services backs Lightwood executive housing development

Morris mechanical servcies backs plans for the joint venture to develop land in Lightwood, Stoke on Trent for high end executive housing.

We believe our home city deserves this chance to grow…….

Mike Herbert, Regional Director at St. Modwen, commented:

“We submitted an outline planning application for 100 executive new homes on 54 acres of land off Woodpark Lane and Lightwood Road, near Longton.

“It is widely understood that there is a significant lack of high-quality executive homes in Stoke-on-Trent – only 6% of all houses in the area are average Council Tax Band D and above. The proposals at Lightwood are aimed at the very top end of the market, delivering very low density housing at less than 2 per acre.

“This proposal will retain and attract business entrepreneurs and executives to live in Stoke on Trent rather than being forced to live further afield.  This is not just more sustainable, e.g. reducing travelling, but crucially, living out of the district dilutes commitment to the city, including people’s leisure and shopping spend.

“This scheme will not prevent or delay the development of inner city brownfield sites which appeal to a different market; however inner city brownfield sites are not appropriate for the executive housing proposed at Lightwood.

“The application has been the subject of extensive discussions with the Council and we hope will be brought forward to the Council’s Planning Committee for approval in the near future.”
